A lovely spot for couples, and there's room for a small one on the sofabed if you come 'en famille'. The apartment is attached to the main house but guests have their own entrance and oleander-gay garden with a terrace to dine or snooze on shaded by a plane tree. Inside is simply but delightfully furnished, with tiled floors and white walls a backdrop for sculptures and interesting photos. Warm engaging owners Christelle and Michel are artists – she sculpts; he paints and photographs. They live in the house and have a gallery next door and guests are invited to openings.
The village is peaceful; often the only sounds to be heard are the natter of neighbours in gardens on balmy summer evenings (and if there's a barbecue going on, you may be included!). If you're not wanting to cook in the small windowless (but rather well-equipped) kitchen, there are restaurants to walk to and a regular market where you can pick up Provençal produce. Beautiful, medieval Uzés, with its restaurants, antique shops, summer dance festival and legendary market, is six miles off; Avignon and Nîmes are not much further.
